TheGongzuo: Tips for Staying Motivated at Work

The Gongzuo Tips for Staying Motivated at Work

The only way to do great work is to love what you doSteve Jobs

Taking cue from Steve Job’s quotation, it is only you who can motivate yourself at work place.  However, at times even the most motivated and energetic person can be drained. You would want your Mondays to be Fridays and wished your weekends come earlier! And once you feel it is a task for you even to reach office on time – you should pull up your socks and do something extra and a add a little zing in what you think is otherwise a moron life for you!

Think Positive
At TheGongzuo, we have worked with many successful people and we have come to conclude that every individual no matter how famous or successful he or she is goes through ups and downs in life. So don’t at all feel that you are the only one going through the ordeal. Just as you enjoy the ups in your life, take the downs as a challenge and focus on things which are positive around you. Read at appreciation mails from your boss or thank you letters from your colleagues. Interact with people who give positive vibes. Stay away from people who generate negative feelings around you.

Set Definite Goals
If you work haphazardly without any fixed goal or target, you are bound to be confused. Have short-term goals instead of long-term ones so that you can complete them quickly without much of a hassle and move forward.

Enjoy your Success
‘Nothing succeeds like success’ – you should work hard to achieve success no matter how insignificant they might appear. You can even reward yourself to a treat or watch the latest movie. You will feel motivated to achieve higher targets and goals.

Have a healthy work-life balance
It is only but natural to miss out on your best friend’s birthday or even your own anniversary when working round the clock. In order to stay motivated at work place, it is important to have a healthy personal life as well. Do you remember the old adage “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” – it is true to the last word. So just step out, meet your friends, go shopping with family, take time to pursue your hobby, enrol in a new course or learn a new instrument.

Check To do List
If you feel you have too much on your plate, then look at what you have completed so far. Tick the ones that you have completed and you will feel a sense of relief. This is an excellent way to move forward towards your target.

Take a coffee break
Sitting for long hours and hovering over the system for some missing code or having a writer’s block or failing to get the log books correct can ruin your logical reasoning! That is when you should take a break. If not coffee, you can simply step out of the cubicle and breathe in some fresh air and walk in the office lawn. Please remember to keep that phone away!
